‘The Emptiness Is Profound’: Son Shares Heartfelt Tribute After Ex-Mqabba Mayor Nicky Briffa Dies
The son of beloved father and Mqabba Mayor Nicky Briffa has shared a heartfelt status after the passing of the important figure in his life.
“With a heavy heart, I share the news of my father Nicky Briffa’s passing. His love and memories will guide us through this difficult time as we mourn his loss. The emptiness is profound, but we’ll hold onto the love he gave us. Rest in peace, Love you Dad,” Aaron Briffa said today, leading to hundreds of comments of condolences for him and his family.
Briffa, who was elected in 2009 on the first count and was also the President of the Mqabba Local Committee, also spent years working at ONE.
Several Labour Party members, from Prime Minister Robert Abela to MEP Alex Agius Saliba, shared photos and their memories shared with the man.
Abela said “people like Nicky remain an example with a sense of altruism and humility.”
Agius Saliba said Briffa served as a “reference point” for Mqabba residents for years.
Planning Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi described Briffa as a “close friend over many years”.
Inclusion Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli described Briffa as a hard worker who always remained close to the people.
Minister Owen Bonnici said this was a great loss for the residents of Mqabba who, until today, continue to refer to ‘Nicky’s Era’.
