The European Parliament Activity Rankings Are In And Malta’s Politicians Performed Extremely Well
With a few weeks to go until the European Parliament election, a study has ranked the current 751 MEPs for their activity and performance over the past five years.
And while Malta only has six MEPs, the study, conducted by MEPRanking.E, indicated they punched above their weight in this legislature.
PN MEP Roberta Metsola was ranked as Malta’s most active MEP and the 27th most active MEP in the European Parliament. She is ranked fourth in her political group, the European People’s Party, behind only European Parliament President Antonio Tajani, EPP chairman Manfred Weber and British MEP Julie Girling.
“It is always nice to have some acknowledgement of the work done and to be recognised by such an authoritative forum is honour for indeed, but – even if we may not always agree – every Maltese MEP works hard for the people we represent,” Metsola said.
PL MEP Miriam Dalli was ranked as Malta’s second most active MEP, the 38th most active MEP in the European Parliament and the fourth most active in her political group, the Socialists and Democrats.
Outgoing PL MEP Marlene Mizzi was ranked as Malta’s third most active MEP (146th in the Parliament), PN MEP David Casa came in at fourth (262nd in the Parliament) and PL MEP Alfred Sant in fifth (548th in the Parliament).
PN MEP Francis Zammit Dimech was ranked last in Malta and 612th overall, but he only entered the European Parliament in 2017 after Therese Comodini Cachia vacated her seat in Brussels in favour of one at the Maltese Parliament.
