‘The Genuine Pains I Spoke About Are Real’: Conrad Borg Manchè Reacts To Election Result

Independent candidate Conrad Borg Manchè said he is “very satisfied” at his election result, which he said proves the “genuine pains” he has long been talking about truly exist.

Borg Manchè, the current Gżira mayor, only decided to contest the European Parliament election as an independent at the last minute.

Despite his short campaign and not being backed by a political party, he performed admirably, winning 5,936 first-count votes, the second-highest for an independent behind Arnold Cassola, and had won 7,641 votes by the time he was eliminated.

He won more first-count votes than three PL candidates (Jesmond Bonello, Jesmond Marshall and Marija Sara Vella Gafa) and six PN candidates (David Agius, Lee Bugeja Bartolo, Miriana Calleja Testaferrata de Noto, Norma Camilleri, David Casa, and Louise Anne Pulis).

“I would like to thank the people for the trust they showed in me,” he said. “The result if very satisfactory and looking at the general result, one will realise that the genuine pains I have always spoken about truly exist, and one must truly reflect and work on them to move forwards.”

Borg Manchè thanked his supporters, his team, and all the other independent candidates for their “courage” to contest the election.
