Former PN leader and MP Adrian Delia has spoken out against the BCRS machines, saying they’re the machines that Malta never needed.

Delia also went as far as to claim they are to blame for Maltese streets being filled with trash, as an ongoing and pressing issue continues to mount for Malta’s authorities.

“The machines we never needed,” Delia shared with a photo of the machines surrounded by trash on his Facebook page.

“Turning streets into trash zones and people into beggars,” he continued as he made reference to people who end up looking for empty plastic bottles to get money from the machines.

This comes as many people in Malta have been complaining about the waste problem that has been accumulating over the past few weeks as trash is either taken out on the wrong day or not picked up by the waste disposal services leading to more rats being seeing around residential areas.

So far, Malta’s touristic areas have been the most affected, including Sliema, St Julian’s, Ta’ Xbiex, and Swieqi, but the problem has extended as far as areas like Naxxar.

And it’s not just domestic waste that seems to be an issue – many have started complaining on public trash bins being left filled to the brim, as threatening insects such as wasps or hornets gather around.

Meanwhile, Sliema Mayor John Pillow has quite literally taken matters into his own hands, uploading videos on his social media confronting residents for taking out trash without following the proper schedule.
