The Old Site Of Savoy Hotel On Sliema-Gżira Border Caught Fire Last Night

Reports of a fire last night in Sliema at the top of Rue d’Argens littered social media last night until a video was posted on a private residents group confirming the site to be the old Savoy Hotel building.
The blaze, which started on the top floor of the building is being labelled by the public as an act of arson with some residents believing the building was currently inhabited by squatters.
At the time of writing, it is unknown what exactly caused the blaze but it is being reported that the fire had started after rubbish left at the site had caught alight during the evening.
The blaze was handled by members of the civil protection unit and doused shortly after arrival on the scene.
