It turns out that the Gozitan sister island seems to have more cars than people, a new study for 2021 has revealed.

The study found that for every 1,000 residents in Gozo and Comino, there are 1,179 cars.

In another study related to transport, the NSO revealed that Gozo has a population of 34,563. A quick calculation reveals that there should be roughly 40,750 cars in Gozo.

On the other hand, for every 1,000 residents in Malta, there are 751 cars.

In total, there are 413,019 licensed vehicles on Malta’s roads, 10% of which are in Gozo.

The area with the highest percentage of Maltese licensed motor vehicles is the Northern Harbour of Malta, at 26%.
