‘They Deserve Better’: Maltese Mother Breaks Down Why Teachers’ Strike Is So Crucial
A Maltese mother has taken to social media ahead of a planned educators’ strike on Monday to explain why teachers locally are facing serious issues – and they can’t be ignored anymore.
“Many teachers have lost their passion and motivation and a lot of parents are agreeing with this, not just these few weeks but all year. They deserve better, we need them, our future needs them,” Sabrina Mallia, who works with Lovin Malta, said online.
“Our kids need to be surrounded by positive and motivated leaders, not robots preaching following curriculums.”
“I don’t feel that anything is being done or enough attention is given,” she continued. “Good luck to all teachers, hope you receive the respect and support you need.”
Her support comes as the MUT ordered a number of directives came in over the last few weeks, including the below, over failed negotiations over a new financial package for educators.
