Thirty new police sergeants who would act as “ambassadors” for the corps were promoted during a ceremony in the Police Headquarters in Floriana.

During the ceremony, the new officers were told to get closer to the heart of their communities and lead by example by representing the police corps.

“‘We need to put the victims at the heart of our operations,” new police commissioner Angelo Gafà said.

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri was also present for the ceremony, saying: “Don’t rest now that you’re sergeants. Approach every day of work knowing that you are an example for your colleagues as well”.

A total of 18 men and 12 women were promoted, with Camilleri urging them to be ambitious and disciplined in their new roles.

Gafà reminded them that everything they do will leave an impact not just on their personal lives but also on the entire corps.
