‘This Chapter Is Closed’: RTK Pulls Plug On Andrew Azzopardi’s Show After Five-Year Run

Veteran broadcaster and academic Andrew Azzopardi has announced that his long-running radio programme Andrew Azzopardi on RTK103 will be coming to an end later this month.
The decision was made by Beacon Media Group, who described it as part of a strategic shift toward a “fresh format” with a stronger religious focus. Azzopardi confirmed that the final episode will air on 29th June.
In a heartfelt public statement, Azzopardi said the decision came as “unexpected and deeply surprising”, especially considering the show’s strong popularity, relevance, and reach over the past five years.
“The show became a hub of national dialogue,” he wrote, explaining how it consistently sparked conversations across the country and brought together academics, politicians, and everyday people. It was regularly picked up by media outlets and shared across social media.
Despite the programme being described as RTK103’s “flagship show”, Azzopardi said he respects the decision to head in a new direction.
“I am immensely proud of what Andrew Azzopardi on RTK103 has accomplished. Most of all, I am thankful to the listeners, guests, and collaborators who made the programme what it was.”
He closed his statement with a clear message about what comes next:
“This chapter is closed. My passion for radio echoes loud and clear. This is no last dance.”
