This Maltese Company Just Gave The Best Gift To The Hospital’s Rainbow Ward

The Rainbow Ward at Malta’s Mater Dei Hospital was set up for the families and children who are faced with difficult situations like cancer. As the name implies, the ward was built with the purpose of being a colourful distraction to children and young people who are going through the toughest of times, and it just got an awesomely sweet addition courtesy of the RE/MAX & Friends Foundation

The ward was supplemented with a state-of-the-art children’s play area, fully equipped with furnishing, playground equipment, and decoration of the common internal area. The whole thing cost €75,000 (which the RE/MAX & Friends Foundation wholly funded), and it looks amazing.

The project was inaugurated last Thursday by Her Excellency Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, in the presence of the Minister for Health Chris Fearne and board members of The RE/MAX & Friends Foundation. The entire foundation is funded through the sales and rentals of RE/MAX agents, and was founded in 2014 by RE/MAX Malta after one of their agents fell ill and died of cancer.

Local interior designer Jean-Marc Bianchi volunteered to take on the job of designing the internal area, turning it from a simple living room to a beautiful play area with a theatre in the form of a pirate ship, table-soccer, a sofa area, an arts and crafts table, large doll houses, and a computer and video game area (PlayStation 4s and all).

All the furniture was custom-made and offered at cost price by Joinwell Limited, the computer was donated by Forestals, the PlayStation 4 and games were donated by Exotique, six original stadium seats were donated by Intersteel & Fence Ltd, and the table soccer was donated by BMIT.
