‘This Was A Miracle’: Son Speaks Out After Cab Crashes Into His Mother’s Hair Salon

What could have been a tragedy turned into what one family is calling “a miracle” after a cab crashed straight into a closed Santa Venera hair salon yesterday morning.
At around 8am on Thursday, CCTV captured the moment a Y-plate vehicle smashed through the glass doors of Marica’s Salon on Cannon Road, stopping just short of the reception desk.
The driver, a 42-year-old man from Somalia who resides in St Paul’s Bay, was taken to hospital with slight injuries.

Salon owner Marica had stepped outside to feed stray cats when the crash happened, a moment her son, Maverick Baldacchino, says saved her life.
In a Facebook post, Baldacchino alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, although police have not confirmed this.
” It was a miracle,” he wrote, thanking everyone who offered help and support.
He confirmed that the salon will reopen as normal today despite the damage.
Police are continuing their investigations.
