‘This Was Our Last Photo Together’: Pelin Kaya’s Close Friends Remember Best Of Murder Victim Ahead Of Vigil
A beaming Pelin Kaya surrounded by some of her closest friends on a night out has been revealed as the last photo she took with her friends, as they commemorate the best of her memory ahead of tonight’s vigil.
The photo, which was taken a few weeks ago, was sent exclusively to Lovin Malta, depicting a happy smiling Pelin having a drink with her friends.
“She was an angel and a perfect friend in every way. It’s so unfortunate that this crazy person was allowed to be on the streets,” one of her friends seen in the photo told the newsroom.
“She was a very happy person and loved to live in Malta.”
“Now we can only fight for our dear friend and make sure that the person that did this gets what he deserves. It’s so painful,” she said.
Another one of Pelin’s friends told Lovin Malta that Riviera Beach was one of her favourite places and that she looked up to her as a role model.
“This beach and sunset was her favourite, as I remember. And she was loved by everyone in the same way that this beach is,” she said.
“One thing I’m sure of, she was loved by all of her friends from all over the world,” she continued, noting that Pelin had friends from a number of countries, including places like Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, and Japan.
“Pelin always listened to us with her heart and was always willing to help others. She was a role model for so many girls around her, and for me as well.”
“We truly love and respect her.”
A vigil is going to be held tonight at the scene of the accident, KFC Gżira with attendees urged to bring flowers.
The vigil will be held at 7pm, and her family will also be present.
“Join us to honour Pelin, a beautiful soul that was taken too soon. Her family, friends, and anyone who wishes will be placing flowers in Gżira where the tragic incident happened,” another friend said.
Yesterday, murder suspect Jeremie Camilleri was charged with voluntary homicide in court. He pleaded not guilty to the charges and is currently being held at Mount Carmel’s forensic unit.
