Freezing nights, windy days and stormy spells dominated the end of November in Malta, but the first full week of December has a confusing, mixed bag in store.

People who’ve been hating the very fresh temperatures hitting the islands in the last couple of days will be pleased to know that today’s high of 18°C will be bumping up to 20°C to tomorrow. However, as evenings’ lows persist at snappy 14°C, every day seems to hold a different forecast.

By Tuesday, the northwesterly wind will be going all the way up to a strong Force 6, definitely making the temperature feel colder than what it actually is. As the week progresses, cloudy days will give way to some sunny outbursts, but once again, it’s the weekend that holds the most erratic weather…

Friday is set to kick off with a mainly cloudy and rather fresh day, but should be another dry day. That might all change come Saturday’s public holiday though.

Immaculate Conception Day (8th December) is currently showing the possibility of showers, with the day’s highs dropping to 18°C again, and the lowest temperature sitting just under 15°C. As the wind slowly starts to pick up again, expect some rainy spells over the islands again as the humidity rises beyond 75%.

Sunday might close off the week with another windy day as the west-northwesterly winds go all the way back up to Force 6, making the morning’s 17°C and the evening’s 13°C definitely feel much colder.

In other words, get ready for warm sunny days to become fresh cloudy evenings that turn into windy spells that usher in rainy days which should end up in sunnier, windier and fresher evenings.

Thanks December, you really do know how to confuse the hell out of the Maltese population.
