Malta’s Customs officers have broken another record after discovering thousands of fake goods in 36 different containers.

Over the last few days, thousands of fake shoes, clothes, and handbags were uncovered by the officers.

Most the fake goods were hidden behind a wall of legitimate products, luckily, the recently-introduced scanners that have been instrumental in the record drug finds were crucial in finding the products.

The operation covered a total of 44 containers that had arrived at the Freeport, which had left from an unspecified Asian country and was destined for Africa.

So far, just 8 of the 36 containers found with fake goods have been emptied. To give some perspective to the massive haul the customs department have on their hands, here’s what they have found so far:

91,750 mobile phone accessories, 46,863 pieces of clothing, 43,915 tennis shoes, 14,365 tracksuits, 7,770 shows, and 750 game consoles.

The total haul is expected to be a record for the customs. The largest ever consignment was 15 containers last September.
