Three Maltese Police Officers Suspended For Using Excessive Violence
Three police constables have been suspended from the corps as an investigation into failure to conduct their duties in a proper way is underway.
Among the allegations levelled at the officers is the use of excessive violence when dealing with members of the public.
A Magisterial inquiry, led by Magistrate Elaine Mercieca, has been opened.
The corps is investigating the claims itself, with the group saying it does not tolerate this behaviour and will not tolerate any similar episodes.
It emphasised that the large majority of officers undertake their duties with the utmost “seriousness and loyalty” towards Maltese society, and to the police corps itself.
What do you make of the suspensions?
