Ticket Anyone? Malta Traffic Police Gave Out Nearly 80,000 Citations Throughout 2022

Did you get a ticket last year?

Malta’s traffic police gave out 79,107 citations during 2022, according to new figures revealed in Parliament.

Interestingly, this is actually a significant decrease in tickets when compared to the previous year, with 87,637 given out in 2021.

Not many people contested the tickets they received, with just around 9% contesting through petitions.

Out of those contested, 2,667 won their cause.

Sixty citations were even brought up to Parliament, with more than 414 pending in the system.

In terms of citations that were taken to tribunals to contest, there were 2,795, with 590 of those were found guilty.
