‘Total Coma’: Franco Debono Calls Out PN Silence At Disastrous Survey

Franco Debono has called out PN politicians for their failure to react to the latest disastrous survey, which placed the PL ahead by around 29,000 votes.

“I searched through every new portal and social media but I have yet to see a single reaction by a PN MP or MEP about such a tragic survey,” the former MP said in the wake of the MaltaToday survey.

“Perfect silence. A total coma. Only photos with statues.”

As the PN faces the latest in a long sequence of electoral defeats, the party is gripped by a scary sense of lethargy and resignation, while its MPs and MEPs speak about everything except for the corpse in the room.

“A total coma and photos with statues. Where are the supporters? Rise up.”

Debono pinned a large portion of the blame on Lawrence Gonzi, who served as Prime Minister when he was an MP between 2008 and 2013.

“The survey shows that the state Gonzi left the PN in, a debt-ridden, divided and losing party, hasn’t changed 11 years later,” he said as he challenged the former Prime Minister to a public debate about the PN.

He also criticised Gonzi for urging new President Myriam Spiteri Debono to put into practice a speech she had given which called for national redemption after the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

“Gonzi, who no one speaks to when he walks through Valletta, still wants to arrogantly dictate to the new President that she needs to put her words about Daphne into practice,” he said.

“He hasn’t yet realised that when he was Prime Minister, I had proposed that the President be elected by a two-thirds majority. Instead of appreciating and implementing the proposals, he got Daphne to attack me.”

“If he had listened to me, the PN would have implemented this reform, but instead the evil clique that I spoke about 12 years ago, and everyone now understands what I was talking about, didn’t want me to work but did their utmost to sideline everyone who could contribute.”

“Gonzi will go down in history as the person who transformed the Nationalist Party from PN to PM – Partit tal-Mibegħda (the party of hatred).”

What should the PN do to return to winning ways?
