A truck carrying medical and industrial gases, including cylinders of liquid nitrogen, crashed and overturned on Regional Road this morning.

The driver crashed the vehicle at around 10:45am as he was approaching the Regional Road tunnels in St Julian’s, tipping several tanks onto the street. He escaped unscathed but a crane had to be called in to lift the truck back up, while Civil Protection Department officials were given the delicate task of taking care of the tanks and loading them onto another truck.

That part of Regional Road had to be completely closed off to traffic and a video uploaded by the Facebook page Maltese Roads Traffic Updates shows that the accident had generated a significant amount of traffic in the area.
