Trudy Kerr Publishes Statement Regarding Ta’ Qali Gravel Saga

The SHE Word host Trudy Kerr has issued a statement after Jason Micallef announced he intends to take her to court over a video she posted from Ta’ Qali showing gravel covering the picnic area.
Micallef, writing on Facebook, said he will be “legally pursuing those who created the fake news and the fat lie about the picnic area in Ta’ Qali”, going on to call Kerr a “failed and fake podcaster” before warning: “See you in court Ms Kerr.”
Now Kerr has responded with her own statement, clarifying the intention behind her video and addressing the ongoing saga:
Trudy’s full statement:
“In the reel I shared earlier this week I documented my experience of arriving at Ta Qali on Sunday 31st August to find that the park area had been gravelled over. This is an area I have visited often over the past 19 years in Malta, and an area I very much love. In the absence of any public information regarding the resurfacing within the vicinity of the public field, I documented my sadness and concern and shared this on my personal platforms. This reel did not target or mention any individual or organisation. It simply commented on the current situation in Ta Qali.
Since expressing my concerns, the reel in question has been shared and viewed thousands of times, and gathered unforeseen media attention. I whole heartedly appreciate and respect the Prime Minister’s response when questioned that more information concerning the matter would have been beneficial.
It is noted that the official response from the involved parties concerning the regeneration process is that this procedure is part of an ongoing improvement. As I have expressed publicly, I welcome the news of the transformation and will be very happy to report that Ta Qali is reinstated to a green site and share the improvements when they are come into fruition.
At present it appears that Mr Micallef has chosen to pursue a legal route concerning my expressions of concerns. I refrain from commenting on this decision.”
Kerr had posted the reel on 1st September, showing the gravel and dust at Ta’ Qali and expressing disappointment at the state of the area. Since then, the clip has gone viral and become the subject of heated online debate.
