President Trump has claimed an early victory in the United States Presidential election despite millions of votes still being counted.

The President spoke from the White House in the early hours of the morning, celebrating his premature claims of a win with Vice President Mike Pence.

“Frankly we did win this election. Millions and millions of people voted for us,” he said.

The highly-polarising US Presidential election has come down to the wire with both Joe Biden and President Trump neck-to-neck in a battle that will be decided by the outcome of several swing states.

As it stands, Biden has accumulated 220 electoral college votes while President Trump has 213.

However, ballots are still being counted in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Arizona and Nevada – the outcome of which could swing the election either way.

Speaking out of the East Room, President Trump also claimed that “fraud” had occurred with regards to the delayed mail-in ballots system and pledged to take the issue to the Supreme Court to fight election results.

“This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country,” he said.

“We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything. And all of a sudden it was just called off.”

Speaking out of Delaware, challenger Joe Biden also seemed hopeful about his chances to win the presidential race.

“The election is not over until every ballot is counted, he said. “We are on track to win.”
