TVM’s Head of News Norma Saliba resigned from her position yesterday afternoon, saying that over the last few weeks she’s been targeted by a malicious campaign against her.

Saliba took to social media to announce the news, saying that even though her decision was made due to personal reasons, she’s also been facing a “character assassination campaign”.

“I have never sought revenge in my work, nor have I ever taken advantage of my position to favor or harm anyone. Despite this, in the past few weeks, I have become a victim of a malicious campaign with the sole purpose of assassinating my character,” Saliba said.

“Those who know me well did not believe the lies that were spread and written about me. Silence is a response…”

“I have decided to step down as Head of News for personal reasons, even though I could have contributed more from the experience I have in this field.”

“The decision was made serenely, and from here, I thank those who worked with me and expressed their confidence, loyalty, and respect, as well as my family, friends, and followers for their continuous support,” she said.

“I look forward to new opportunities to continue advancing my career!”

Unfortunately, throughout her time as Head of News, TVM has faced many complains and accusations of being biased.

She was also recently at the centre of controversy after it was revealed that she had done voiceover work for Malta’s Planning Authority, back in 2018.
