Twelve Years Later: Man To Be Charged With Murder After Woman’s Remains Found In Valletta Ditch
After 12 years of investigations, a man is set to be charged in court today with the 2008 murder of Charlene Farrugia.
John Paul Woods, 40-years-old and born in England, told police he had killed and dismembered 25-year-old Charlene Farrugia back in November, 2008, hiding her body parts in a ditch in Valletta.
His confession came after he was at Mt Carmel following his arrest for a separate crime, a failed robbery he had attempted on a Gżira Convenience Store in 2019.
His motivations for killing Farrugia have not yet been revealed.
Woods himself has been found guilty in relation to a slew of crimes, from seriously injuring other women, armed robbery and breaching probation.
Farrugia was a carer in a Siġġiewi home and her disappearance left her family broken and looking for answers.
Today, police spokesperson Brandon Pisani confirmed that the murder took place at a St Paul’s Paul’s Bay apartment. Woods will now be charged in court after sufficient evidence was gathered to prosecute him.
