Two elderly people were hospitalised after they got run over by a 20-year-old driver in Naxxar yesterday evening.

The incident occurred at around 7pm along Triq tal-Balal in Naxxar, police confirmed.

The 70-year-old man and the 68-year-old woman residing in Naxxar were hit by a 20-year-old Naxxar resident driving an Over Brera125 motorycle.

A medical team was called on-site with an ambulance transporting the injured people to Mater Dei Hospital.

The 70-year-old was later certified to have suffered grievous injuries while the 68-year-old woman suffered light injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing
