Two Teens ‘Crossing Road On Pelican Lights’ In Mqabba Hospitalised After Being Struck By Car

Two teenagers have been hospitalised after being struck by a vehicle in Mqabba.

The two teens, a male and female both aged 14, were hit by a Volkswagen Polo being driven by a 71-year-old man from Qrendi at around 3pm yesterday afternoon in Triq il-Konvoj ta’ Santa Marija, Mqabba.

People close to the children told TVM that the pair were crossing the road at a pelican lights crossing – however, the car “kept on going”.

The teenagers were given medical attention on the scene before being rushed to Mater Dei hospital via ambulance.

The male was certified with grievous injuries while the female was certified with light injuries. Police investigations into the accident are underway.
