At least seven people have been held by authorities in relation to illegal migration and expired residency permits after a night inspection in Sliema.

Aside from these individuals, a number of drivers found to be driving Y-plate cars without the appropriate licenses from Transport Malta were also found.

Two vehicles were taken in during these inspections.

The inspections were held out by the Police Force, Transport Malta, Jobs Plus and Detention Services.

Around 105 vehicles were stopped in a number of hours, with the majority found to be following the rules.

Some drivers were found to be without a license while others were found to be using their phones while driving, or speeding.
