Uber Launches Teen Accounts In Malta: Safer Rides For The Whole Family
Uber has just unveiled a new feature in Malta designed to give families peace of mind while letting teenagers enjoy more independence.
The newly launched Uber for Teens allows parents to invite their teens, aged 13-17, to create accounts under their family profile.
Safety First: Features Built for Peace of Mind
The Uber for Teens initiative focuses on safety, ensuring parents can track their teens’ rides in real time.
Here’s what makes this feature stand out:
- Real-Time Tracking: Parents can follow their teen’s journey, with details like the driver’s name, vehicle information, and drop-off location.
- PIN Verification: Teens must enter a unique PIN before getting into the car to confirm they’re with the correct driver.
- Journey Alerts: Sensors and GPS detect any unexpected stops or deviations, triggering a check-in to ensure everyone’s safety.
- Direct Contact: Parents can call the driver or Uber’s safety line during the trip if needed.
- Highly-Rated Drivers Only: Only drivers with top ratings and a valid PHV license from Transport Malta can accept teen ride requests.
- Emergency Button: All teen trips come with an emergency button, which is automatically enabled for every ride.
These features cannot be turned off by teens, parents, or drivers, ensuring a secure experience every time.
A Collaboration for Greater Security
To further bolster safety, Uber has partnered with the Malta Police’s Remote Reporting Unit, creating a centralised reporting system to address any concerns quickly and effectively.
What Uber Has to Say
Neyran Bahadirli, General Manager at Uber Malta, shared her enthusiasm for the feature:
“We’re thrilled to introduce this new feature to families across Malta. By integrating essential safety features, we are helping families stay connected and ensure teens can move around safely. This initiative reflects our continued commitment to enhancing the safety of young riders.”
Expert-Backed and Parent-Approved
