Union Calls For Action After Four Police Officers Injured During Domestic Violence Check Up
The Police Officers Union has called for serious action to be taken after four police officers were injured as they were undertaking their duties during a domestic violence check in Gozo.
Expressing solidarity with the officers and wishing them a speedy recovery, the union urged for something to be done to stop these incidents from occurring.
“The union urges the responsible authorities to increase the penalties for those who threaten or assault officers,” the POU said.
“This case is a clear example showing that police work is different from other lines of work that do not involve a risk like this.”
The four officers were injured after following up on a domestic violence report in Gozo. The man who attacked the officers is believed to have mental health issues, Newsbook reported.
The four officers were not taken to hospital; however, the union has called for action before a more tragic incident occurs.
