‘United Against Injustice’: International Women’s Day Protest March Taking Place In Valletta On Wednesday

A protest march to observe International Women’s Day will take place in Valletta this Wednesday.
The protest, which is being organised by the Women’s Rights Foundation, the Malta Gay Rights Movement, Doctors for Choice and Moviment Graffitti – will start at 5.30pm near the Triton Fountain, in Floriana and end in front of the law courts.
Women’s Day has a long history of protests which advocate against injustices and indeed the theme for this year’s protest will be ‘Women United against Injustice’, following the grievances women have experienced in the past year in Malta.
”Over the past months alone, we have seen senseless sentences and court decisions, long years of waiting for action to be taken or for justice to be served, police inaction which could have prevented serious crimes such as domestic violence and femicide, lack of information, lack of coordination, as well as instances of baseless victim blaming,” the event organisers stated.
The public has been encouraged to attend with placards that demand justice and voice their anger.
