Malta’s Film Studios in Kalkara will be receiving a facelift after the Planning Authority approved an upgrading project.

“Malta to have a unique global competitive edge,” the PA said as it shared information over the upgrade project.

Part of the project includes the construction of a ‘Soundstage’, including an environment-controlled indoor water tank which will enjoy the infinite horizon of the adjacent deep-water tank.

The new approved Soundstage is a soundproof hangar-like structure with a floor area of 4,000m2, used for the construction of set-building where shooting of film and television productions is carried out.

Besides the relocation of other approved structures, the projects also include the construction of a new reservoir and a multipurpose room.

The underground water reservoir will have a capacity of 1,910m3 and will be located under the parking area.
