Valletta Mayor Files Police Report Against Burlesque Show ‘Few Steps Away From Crucifix’

Valletta mayor Alfred Zammit has announced that he has filed a police report against the organisers of a burlesque show that took place in the capital city last weekend.

“I have officially asked the police to take action against a street event that took place without a permit, and to ensure that such an incident never repeats itself, especially not a few steps away from the miraculous Crucifix,” Zammit said.

“Without a doubt, these things aren’t suitable for this location.”

The burlesque show saw dancers Undine La Verve and Bella Stardust performing inside and on the steps of Cafe Society.

Although attendees clearly enjoyed themselves, not everyone agreed.

Valletta residents’ group Residenti Beltin said the city has “turned into a brothel”.

“Many residents have long been trying to get the attention of representatives and leaders but they keep getting dismissed, when it comes to noise, the takeover of public land, and the obscenities that are taking place on every corner. Who will take responsibility for turning Valletta a brothel, in the true sense of the word?”

Do you think the police should launch an investigation?
