Valletta Solidarity Event To Mark Land Day And Call For Justice In Palestine

A solidarity event will be held in St George’s Square, Valletta, this Sunday, 30th March from 3pm to 4:30pm to mark Land Day — a day of remembrance and resistance in the Palestinian struggle for land and freedom.
Land Day commemorates the 1976 protests against Israel’s confiscation of Arab-owned land in Galilee, where six unarmed Palestinians were killed, and hundreds more were injured or arrested.
It has since become a powerful symbol of Palestinian resistance and the ongoing fight for land rights and dignity.
This year’s event comes amid what organisers describe as escalating violence and oppression in Gaza and the West Bank, with over 50,000 Palestinians reported killed, and many more suffering from starvation, displacement, and lack of access to medical care.
Organisers are calling for an end to the occupation, freedom for Palestine, and greater international accountability — including from Malta.
“This is a universal struggle for dignity and self-determination,” organisers said. “We invite the public to stand in solidarity.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring old children’s books and shoes, which will be used symbolically during the event.
