Government To Explore Banning Vehicles Of Certain Services On Malta’s Roads Before 9am

Malta’s government will explore banning certain services from using the roads before 9am in a bid to reduce traffic.

In the document for the budget for 2023, the government said it will open discussions with stakeholders over the potential ban next year.

No details were given on which services will be banned. However, any vehicle linked to these services will not be allowed on the road during morning rush hour.

Malta’s traffic issues are well documented, with the number of vehicles on the road increasing from 30 to 50 per day.

The government has tried to address the issue by investing significantly in infrastructure and providing free public transport to all Maltese residents.

However, the issues still remain. Worryingly, there is mention of the long-heralded metro system, which had its initial plans unveiled last year, months before the general election.

Do you agree with the proposal?
