One of Malta’s longest-working journalists, who has often reported on crime, has been appointed to the new role of Media Coordinator for the Maltese police force.

Brandon Pisani will now be the appointed point of reference between the media, community, and police officers, within the Community and Media Relations Unit (CMRU).

He will be responsible for press releases following incidents, as well as responding to the media’s questions in regards to anything police-related.

His tenure comes with the expectation of a closer cooperation between Maltese journalists and the Maltese force. For years, a lack of a point of reference has led to complaints by local media houses, as well as lengthy waiting times in regards to some requests and questions.

Pisani first started working for Union Print in 1995, writing for L-Orizzont and It-Torċa till 2008. He later also worked with Favourite Channel and One News before moving to PBS in 2013.

Pisani has started his stint off on the right foot, reaching out to media houses and updating some outdated processes within the CMRU.

What do you think of Pisani’s new role?
