Victim Of Brutal 2023 Żurrieq Robbery Dies After A Year Of Severe Brain Damage

A Żurrieq jeweller who has been suffering from brain damage after a brutal robbery has died.
67-year-old Joseph Carabott, a husband and father of two children, was the victim of a violent heist in August 2023 which left him with irreparable brain damage.
“Uncle, you are now resting after the year and six months of misery they caused you,” his nephew wrote in an emotional social media post.
“They left you bedridden with no strength and no words, we will never forget.”
Following the horrific attack, the court heard that two of the three thieves beat him and left him for dead after he resisted them.
Joseph was found by his children laying in a pool of blood inside his shop after he didn’t show up to a tennis match with his wife.
One of the three accomplices pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 28 years. She has since testified against the other two and admitted that the idea to rob the jewellery store came from her.
Both the accused are pleading not guilty.
Rest in peace. Lovin Malta extends its deepest condolences to Joseph’s family
