This Intern Has Flourished Into The Director At Victim Support Malta

Karl Grech has taken on the role of Director at Victim Support Malta. Grech is not new to the NGO and started his work with victims of crime with VSM in 2015 whilst during his master’s in Transcultural Counselling as an intern and project manager.

As the years rolled on, Mr. Grech developed his commitment and love for the work by joining the NGO as a Counsellor, subsequently Head of Service, Clinical Strategist and now, Director of VSM.

“I am excited to take on this position as we have great plans in the pipeline, our vision for the NGO’s qualitative growth is unlimited.I work with a team of people who are committed, dedicated and have a vocation for helping people impacted by trauma. Our goal is never to just provide emotional support, we strive to help victims of crime fully recover from the traumatic event”.

Victim Support Malta is a non-governmental organization that saw its inception in 2006 and has grown exponentially and at a rapid consistent rate over the years, now numbering close to 50+ team members and hundreds of victims helped annually. VSM’s remit is to provide long term free Psychotherapy, Counselling, Family Therapy, Psychiatry and Legal information and Legal Representation for victims of sexual assault.

This is an NGO that specializes in sexual assault and rape with growing numbers in employee abuse, domestic violence, violent crimes and cyber-crimes.

The NGO is currently partially funded by the Ministry for Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity, fundraising, psycho-educational workshops and employee support interventions in the private sector.

“One of my first points of call as newly appointed Director of Victim Support Malta is to, together with my team, work with other NGOs, Foundations, Governmental entities and cooperating Ministries to ensure that the rights of Victims of Crime are safeguarded in line with local law and the European commission.” Closes off Mr. Grech.
