Victor Calvagna’s Daughter Recalls Her Dad’s Heart-Wrenching Final Moments One Year Since Tragic Death
The daughter of the beloved late consultant Victor Calvagna has poured out her heart, recalling how his death has left a permanent impact on her life.
“This time last year I had lost all hope that I would see you and speak to you again,” Francesca Calvagna wrote. “This time last year, we were told that your blood pressure had risen significantly and that you wouldn’t be with us for much longer. This time last year, we were waiting in the waiting room as the nurses prepared you for your last goodbyes from us.”
“This time last year, I saw them taking you off the machines and in the depths of my heart I felt a big scream wanting to be let out. I wanted to shout out ‘No, no, bring him back… have you lost heart?’ Bring him back now!’ However I knew that this scream was the result of the indescribable pain I felt because I had known you had already left us.”
Francesa describes how she felt emotionally heavy and how she couldn’t take the news of her dad passing away.
“Today last year I only saw darkness, I only felt anger, and I couldn’t handle listening to what had happened. I wanted it to be a horrible dream that I was going to wake up from, but I never woke up,” she said.
She recalled losing faith in religion for some time due to her heart-wrenching situation.
“There was a time when I used to ask God to stop the world, and when he didn’t listen to my prayers, I fought with him. How did you take my father away from me when life is still going on? What does this mean? You’re going to let us live in a world where my dad doesn’t exist? My dad was a big part of my life.”
However, a year on, Francesca said she now feels a great sense of inner peace, comforted by the knowledge that her father left a huge legacy behind him and a determination to follow in his footsteps.
“Nowadays we behave in a manner that will see smile at us from above and say ‘these are my people’. We learned about humility and peace in God, and how to turn to and trust the Father when times are rough.”
“One year, we live for you, Pa. We live with your example as a constant guide and we’re grateful for every passing day – that was the motto that guided tour life. Years will pass but you will always remain in our hearts. Your example will live on and I hope I have always made you proud.”
Lovin Malta sends out its warm condolences to Francesca and everyone who knew Dr. Victor Calvagna
