A joke on the popular Bajd u Bejken podcast about Twannie, a child who was murdered back in 1960, has offended several people online.

One woman has also asked people to attend a vigil for Twannie outside his grave on Sunday.

“Do you agree we should meet up on Sunday at 11am and light a candle by Twannie’s grave?” she asked on the Are You Being Served Facebook group.

“We will meet near the outdoor gate. Keep negative comments to yourself, don’t be like that podcast. I am no saint but I am devoted to Twanny and I visit his grave at least 40 times a year. I will be there on Sunday at 11am near the side gate.”

Twannie was found murdered in his Valletta home back in 1960, his neck cut so deeply that it was practically decapitated. It remains one of the most shocking murders in Malta’s history.

His mother Ġiġa Camilleri was convicted of his murder and sentenced to death, but her sentence was commuted and she ended up spending only 10 years in prison. Her husband Leli, Twannie’s stepfather, was jailed for 20 years with hard labour.

Meanwhile, Bajd u Bejken host Max told haters that their comments are only increasing the show’s popularity.

“Thank you to the haters, because we are placing a link to our live show tickets under every hate post and they’re selling like STDs,” he said.

“While some people get offended by jokes, many more people understand this is a comedy show and nothing should be taken personally.”

Will you attend the vigil?
