Violent Robbery In Gozo Leaves Woman With Serious Head Injuries After Being Attacked With A Stone
A British couple were violently attacked and robbed in Gozo early this morning, with the assailants escaping on foot and leaving the woman with grievous injuries.
At around 4am this morning, a 55-year-old woman and her 58-year-old husband were walking back to their apartment in Ta’ Ballura, Xagħra. It was around this time when an unknown number of aggressors approached the couple and assaulted them, reportedly using a stone to threaten them.
The couple immediately attempted resisting them, which is when one of the attackers grabbed the woman and began slamming her head into a nearby car.
They then ran away with some gold items that belonged to the injured woman.
An ambulance rushed the woman to Gozo General Hospital where she was confirmed to have been grievously injured. Her husband was confirmed to have slight injuries.
Magistrate Paul Coppini has opened an inquiry into the case and police investigations are ongoing.
