Divisive American-British kickboxer-turned-influencer Andrew Tate has just been banned from Facebook and Instagram for breaking their guidelines.

Tate first rose to notoriety back in 2016 when he was removed from reality TV show Big Brother after a video which appeared to show him attacking a woman.

Since then, the 35-year-old has going viral like few others, with his take on modern sexism, gender and other topics seen as misogynistic by many. He’s even been described “as a genuine threat to young men”.

In fact, on TikTok alone – where Tate doesn’t even have an account – videos using the #AndrewTate hashtag have been viewed more than 12.5 billion times

“I’m a realist, and when you’re a realist, you’re sexist,” Tate had said in one interview. “There’s no way you can be rooted in reality and not be sexist”.
