Vodafone Employees In Quarantine Following St Julian’s Hotel Party, Several Stores Temporarily Closed

Several Vodafone stores have been temporarily closed after it was revealed that some employees attended a hotel takeover party where a cluster of people ended up testing positive for COVID-19.
As a result, Vodafone employees have been asked to work remotely, resulting in short-staffing across stores.
“We have identified and contacted these employees and others who have had direct interaction with these individuals, and they are receiving our full support in accordance with the Public Health Authority guidelines,” a spokesperson from Vodafone told Lovin Malta.
“Some of our employees have been asked to work remotely, and this has therefore resulted in short-staffing across our other stores, with some stores needing to be closed temporarily.”
Vodafone is working with public health authorities and has carried out deep cleaning at their outlets. They’ve also confirmed that any risk to customers is minimal.
“Thanks to the safeguarding and social distancing policies we have been implementing at our stores, the Public Health Authority has informed us that any risk to customers is minimal. We are in constant contact with the Public Health Authority and are following all their recommendations,” they said.
A cluster of 16 cases has tested positive for COVID-19 following a hotel takeover party at Radisson Blu Resort in St Julian’s two weekends ago. Malta today confirmed seven new COVID-19 cases, one of which was linked to the party cluster, and the island’s number of active cases now stands at 34.
