Watch: ‘A Judge Mocked Me For Singing On Stage’ – Bernard Grech

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech recounted how a judge had mocked him several years ago for his musical performances on stage.

At a PN-organised artists’ event yesterday, Grech said it hurts him to see the likes of PN MPs Julie Zahra and Claudette Buttigieg mocked on a political level for having performed on stage.

Grech, a former amateur singer, said he also encountered this personally in court and used his personal experience to drive the point home that society should treat artists with more respect.

“When I was starting off my legal career several years ago, I was mocked by a judge,” he said.

“When I started speaking, he said that we’re not performing on stage here. I had a direct relationship with the stage during my youth so I fully understand the problems that artists face and the sacrifices they must make to put on a theatrical production.”
