Promising athletes should get to benefit from more flexible school curricula, Prime Minister Robert Abela proposed.
During a recent discussion, he warned that the current educational system doesn’t support the proper development path for young athletes.
“Can a promising swimmer wake up at 5am to train, then go to school with a traditional curriculum and train again in the evening?” he questioned.
“This athlete should be resting in the morning but he has to train because the school curriculum doesn’t want to budge from what we traditionally know it. That’s where we must stimulate discussion and I know that the Education Ministry is discussing this.”
Do you think young athletes should benefit from more flexible curricula?
