Watch: ‘Absolute Omertà’ – Gafà Calls Out PL Silence On Mark Camilleri Contract

PL activist Neville Gafà has criticised the Labour Party’s administration for remaining silent in light of revelations that Mark Camilleri’s publishing house was awarded a €25,000 government contract to write a report.

“This is a major scandal and amounts to a betrayal of PL voters, activists and delegates,” Gafà said.

“PL activists and delegates sacrifice so much for the party. After a day’s work, they volunteer two or three hours of their free time to speak to people and participate in committees on behalf of the party.”

“Meanwhile, a psychological terrorist [Mark Camilleri] spends years insulting and smearing the PL and its people. Yet because he has a minister by the balls, the minister chooses to appease him with a contract to keep him silent.”

This was a reference to Culture Minister Owen Bonnici, as Arts Council Malta, the government entity which awarded Camilleri the contract, falls under his political responsibility.

Gafà said the PL administration should be ashamed of themselves for remaining silent.

“You must be receiving even more messages than I am because I am no longer part of the party’s official structures, and yet you have no reaction,” he said.

“Where are you? Why are you absent? Why won’t a single one of you utter a word? You can see all these public and private messages and you remain passivity. Absolute omertà, as though nothing had happened.”

“Your passivity is bothering delegates and activists, and they have good reason to complain. Choosing not to speak out is worse than speaking out, and this passivity must end. It cannot be that I’m the only person in the party who is speaking out.”
