Watch: Adrian Delia – Aaron Farrugia Is The Minister Of Failures And U-Turns

Adrian Delia has described Aaron Farrugia as a minister of “failures and U-turns” over his handling of the e-scooter and Y-plate cab situations.

Lovin Malta approached the shadow transport minister outside Parliament this week after he criticised Farrugia’s draconian decision to completely ban rental e-scooters from Malta’s streets as of March.

“It’s a very keen race between failures and U-turns,” he said. “First he opens wide the market for Y plates and we had thousands increasing yearly.”

“Then we realised we needed regulation, then he introduced legislation, then he saw that the legislation was not good enough, then he introduced the fines of €500 per offence, then he removed it, then he said he’s going to introduce them again, then he said he’s going to have them garaged, then he said you need a public service garage over and over again.”

“Then the scooters. First the investment, then the regulation, then the banning of the scooters. Going round and round in circles.”

Asked how he would have handled the situation differently had he been in charge, Delia said the solution is very simple.

“You meet the stakeholders, you discuss, you get planners, and you have proper legislation,” he said.

Should the government reverse its ban on e-scooters?
