Opposition Leader Adrian Delia is pressuring ministers to return public funds after it was discovered that they were being used to promote personal pages and boost promotional content on social media.

Delia addressed the issue in parliament yesterday and asked if ministers, including Minister for Finance Edward Scicluna, would return public funds following revelations of their misuse on social media platforms.

“The Minister of Finance can give us some information because he was one of four who was using public resources for personal propaganda,” he said.

Delia’s request comes after Commissioner for Standards in Public Life George Hyzler published a report which found widespread abuse by ministers and parliamentary secretaries using public funds to produce videos solely for their personal Facebook pages.
