Nationalist Party leader Adrian Delia had an emotional moment on Xarabank last weekend, as he was shown a clip of his patents expressing their pride in his success. 

Delia welled up as he was shown the clip of his parents Andrew and Alice recounting the precise moment they had found out their son had clinched a historic victory.

“At one point, I could see the votes of the other guy [Chris Said] piling up higher, but I couldn’t see the whole situation from behind the TV,” Alice Delia said. “Then I heard cries of ‘Delia’ and I shouted back at the screen in celebration.”

Yet the moment was deeper for her husband, who could hardly keep back the tears as he said his son had called him as soon as he had an indication of the result. 

“Adrian called me at around 1am and he said…I can’t even bring myself to say it…he said ‘Thank you Dad, thank you for everything you have taught me’. I was the first person he shared some of his happiness with, and I couldn’t be more satisfied than that.”

“I haven’t exactly had an easy life, but Adrian has elevated me right to the top and [his victory] was the happiest moment in my life.”
