Watch: Alex Borg Open To PN Street Protest If Joseph Muscat Comeback Confirmed
The Nationalist Party should consider calling street protests if Joseph Muscat is confirmed as a PL MEP candidate, PN MP Alex Borg has said.
In an interview with Lovin Malta, Borg was asked to respond to certain criticism that the PN hasn’t reacted strongly enough to the news of a potential Muscat comeback.
Muscat has confirmed he is considering running for election this June and Robert Abela has said he wouldn’t stand in his way and even met the former PM at Labour’s headquarters.
However, Borg pointed out that nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
“If there are developments in this regard, I can assure you that the PN, as an Opposition and a shield of our society, will certainly discuss internally what should happen, even protests if needs be.”
“If developments show there is a chance that PL’s manoeuvres, could end up tarnishing our country’s reputation, and ultimately our economy, then there will be protests if needs be.”
Borg even harked back to the 2019 protests amid a political crisis that forced Muscat to resign.
