Watch: Bernard Grech Clashes With ONE Journalist And Says ‘PL Is The Establishment’

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech clashed with a ONE TV journalist today after he questioned him about alleged leaks from the Vitals magisterial inquiry before it was concluded.

At a press conference today, Grech warned that Prime Minister Robert Abela has been given a copy of the inquiry in advance and is using the information to carry out certain political manoeuvres.

A ONE journalist asked him whether he finds it acceptable that details from the inquiry have leaked in recent years, a line Abela took when questioned by Lovin Malta whether he has a copy of the inquiry.

“If you are confirming that there were leaks to Labour from the inquiry, then it is worrying. You are confirming that there were leaks to PL, and is clear that PL is the establishment.”

The journalist stressed that he wasn’t talking about leaks to PL but rather leaks to people within the PN. However, Grech pressed on and insisted the “Mafia clique is the establishment”.

“I’m answering you but you don’t like the answer,” he said. “I am very concerned that there have been leaks to PL and the government. It is clear that the ONE journalist believes and knows there were leaks to PL from the Attorney General and all those who have access to the information.”

Amid rising concern that Abela has been given a copy of the recently-concluded inquiry, the Prime Minister told Lovin Malta last weekend that people associated with the PN could have had inside information about the workings of the inquiry while it was still ongoing.

“When I announced last January that Chris Fearne was going to be Malta’s nominee for the post of European Commissioner, was the criticism by main PN exponents and a PN MP so harsh because someone had known something before the inquiry was concluded?” He asked.

Should the magisterial inquiry be published?
