Watch: Bernard Grech Hails ‘Significant Progress’ For PN Under His Leadership
A bullish Bernard Grech said that PN is making “huge progress” under his leadership and has managed to significantly slash the Labour Party’s electoral majority.
Grech spoke to Lovin Malta after a MaltaToday survey found PN is trailing PL by 15,422 votes. Although this is a significant decline from the 39,474 gap at the 2022 general election, Grech himself is trailing Robert Abela in the leadership trust rating by a whopping 24.4 percentage points.
However, Grech chose to focus on the gap between the parties, rather than the leaders.
“The Sunday survey indicates that PN is at a disadvantage of 15,000 votes, which is much less than half of the result at the last general election,” he said.

“This is substantial progress that has taken place under my leadership in just under two years since the last general election.”
Grech warned that PN is being forced to compete on an uneven playing field, as the government is “shamelessly abusing” PBS to spread its propaganda despite several Broadcasting Authority decisions against them.
Asked whether he believes PN can win the upcoming European Parliament election, Grech said the election should not only be viewed for its intrinsic goals but also as an assessment of the PN’s progress.
“I think this is a decisive and historic moment for the country,” he said.
“It is a very delicate moment whereby people have had enough of the politics of division that the government has endorsed. They have had enough of the politics of abuse of public funds, of the politics of corruption, and the ‘everything goes’ mentality.”
“The people want a more serious and mature style of politics and we are taking this very seriously.”
Do you think PN has made progress under Grech’s leadership?
