Watch: Bernard Grech ‘Unexpectedly’ Saves The Day After Showing Up When Rachel Cachia’s Car Breaks Down

It definitely sucks when your car suddenly breaks down in the middle of the road – that is, until the country’s Opposition Leader arrives with a much-needed pair of jump leads.

In an interview on Vibe FM, Rachel Cachia, the co-founder of V-Squared recounted how she ran into car troubles in Mosta when a car suddenly pulled up besides her as she was opening her bonnet.

She said she saw ”a well-dressed man wearing a blue shirt with gelled-up hair… a very important person in a very important position – a high profile person”.

When Cachia realised who the person is she became flustered and awestruck, not wanting to bother him when he’s already busy enough.

”In your whole life, you would never believe that this person would stop to help you with your car.”

As the Vibe FM radio hosts debated who this person might be, host Martina Zammit reaches out to the mystery man – and lo and behold, it was Bernard Grech.

Grech broke down his version of events as the hosts listened intently.

”I had just finished running some errands and was going back home, I saw a white car with an open bonnet and doors… I stopped to see whether I could help. I did nothing special – just got the jump leads for the battery and then we pushed the car,’ Grech explains

The jump leads didn’t work which led Grech into helping them push the car forward.

Zammit expresses how this was a good deed for Christmas, with Grech saying: “this is what we all should do all year round… if it was me, I would have wanted someone to stop and help me”.

Grech also joked about making ”a house-visit… at his own house” when humorously questioned about staying home and calling Vibe FM instead of going to work.

What would you do if Bernard Grech stopped to help you jumpstart your car?
